Common questions
What to ask your electrician before a medical or dental fit-out
Most electricians are good at commercial work and have never wired a patient area. These questions sort that out early, and the answers belong in writing before the walls close.
- Have you wired body-protected areas to AS/NZS 3003 before? Which practices?
- Which rooms will be patient areas, and who is deciding that with us?
- Where will each room’s 10 mA RCDs go, inside the room?
- Which equipment gets its own circuit, and have you got the supplier spec sheets?
- Where is each room’s cleaners’ outlet, and is it within 15 metres?
- Who certifies the work in this state, and is an independent inspection or audit needed? Is it booked?
- What test records and certificates do we get at handover, and when is the first 12-month test due?
