Who checks this, and how the site is run

bpea.com.au is a plain-English guide to body-protected electrical areas for practices across Australia and New Zealand. This page says who is behind it, what it is not, and how it stays current.

Who publishes it

bpea.com.au is published by LND Group Pty Ltd, a Melbourne electrical contractor registered with Energy Safe Victoria (REC 30162) that does medical and dental fit-outs and maintenance. Every page is checked by a Victorian registered electrical contractor against the standard and the regulator sources listed on it. That is the ‘checked by’ line in the footer.

We say this plainly because it matters: in Victoria, LND Group is the electrician this site lists first. Everywhere else, the guide has no business of its own to send you to, and lists independent electricians and builders instead.

What it is not

It is not a regulator, a standards body or an inspector, and it is not advice. It never says whether your room complies or how a particular room must be classified: that is decided by your practice with its clinicians, suppliers and electrician, and signed off the way your state requires. Where the guide and your regulator differ, the regulator is right and we would like to hear about it.

The text here is our own. AS/NZS 3003 and AS/NZS 3000 are copyright of Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand; we describe their requirements and point to section numbers, and do not reproduce their wording, figures or tables. The wording that binds is in the standards themselves.

How listings work

  • Listings are free. Electricians and fit-out builders ask to be listed on the For electricians page; we check the licence and that they have done AS/NZS 3003 work before anything goes live.
  • LND Group is the publisher’s own business and is shown first in Victoria, labelled as such. In Melbourne, where LND Group itself works, any other electrician shown is a paid listing and is labelled as one.
  • Outside Victoria no electrician is shown until one has been checked and approved. If none is listed for your state, the page says so and lets you ask us to find one.
  • Where bpea.com.au books a routine test with a provider on a practice’s behalf, the provider may pay bpea a referral fee. The practice never pays bpea anything, and the fee never changes which providers are listed.
  • A listing is not an endorsement. We check licences and experience; we do not supervise the work. Clicks on listings are counted by state so we know where to find electricians next; no personal data is kept about who clicked.

How it stays current

Every source cited on a page is re-read on the first of each month, along with the Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand listings for AS/NZS 3003 and AS/NZS 3000. Changes are summarised and a rewrite drafted; a Victorian registered electrical contractor reads the source and the draft before anything is published. The result, including ‘nothing changed’ months, is on the Updates page, and the footer of every page shows when the sources were last checked.

The question box on each page answers only from this guide and says so. Questions it cannot answer go to a person.
