Free, for practices
Your body-protected area register
List your rooms once: what happens in each, how it is classified and when it was last tested. You get the written record the standard asks for, a printable copy for the inspector or an accreditation surveyor, a reminder from us a month before each room is due, and one button to organise the test.

Who does the work. Electrical work in a patient area, and the routine test, must be done by a licensed electrician (in Victoria a registered electrical contractor) and inspected or certified the way your state requires. This register records that work; it does not replace it, and it does not make a room compliant.
What it does
The record the standard asks for
Clause 2.2.1 asks the practice to keep a written record of its patient areas, their classification and every change. This is that record, kept up to date.
Reminders before each room is due
AS/NZS 3003 requires routine testing at intervals not exceeding 12 months. We email a month before, from info@bpea.com.au, and again if a room goes overdue.
Ready for the surveyor
Print the register, with the test dates and who tested each room, when accreditation or your insurer asks.
Organise the test in one press
In Victoria the request goes to the listed electrician, who arranges the independent inspector. Elsewhere a person finds you one.
Common questions
Is the register free?
Yes. It costs nothing to keep your rooms and test dates here, and the reminders are free. If you ask us to organise a test, the electrician who does it may pay bpea a referral fee; you never pay bpea anything.
Who can see my register?
You, from any device you sign in on, and the people who run this site. It is never shown publicly and never sold. If you press “Organise the test” we pass your details and the rooms that are due to the electrician who will do it, and we tell you which one.
Does this replace the classification record on the wall?
It is the same record, kept where it is easy to update. The standard asks for the record to be available at the premises, so print it (there is a button) and keep the copy with your compliance folder, and print it again after any change.
What if I do not know a room’s classification?
Enter it as “to be decided” and add what equipment is used on patients there. The decision is the practice’s, with input from clinicians, the equipment suppliers and your electrician; the register just makes sure it gets written down.
Can we do the test ourselves?
No. The routine test under AS/NZS 3003 is electrical work: a licensed electrician does it, and in Victoria an independent inspector checks it. The register only records the date and who did it. The one thing staff can do themselves is the RCD push-button test, which some accreditation standards ask for and which you can note against the room.
How do I stop the reminders?
Open your register and turn reminders off, or delete the register. Either takes one press.
