Information, not advice

bpea.com.au is general information about body-protected electrical areas. It is not electrical, legal or professional advice, and nothing on it is a statement that any room, installation or practice complies or does not comply with AS/NZS 3003, the Wiring Rules or any law. Classification of rooms, the design of the installation and whether it complies are matters for your practice, your licensed electrician, any inspector your state requires and your state’s regulator. Always confirm with them before relying on anything here.

Accuracy and currency

We take care to keep the site accurate and re-check its sources monthly, and each page shows when that last happened. Rules change and we can be wrong. Where the site and a regulator, a standard or the law differ, they prevail. We do not reproduce the text of any standard; section references are given to help you find the binding wording in the standard itself, which you should obtain from Standards Australia or Standards New Zealand.

The question box

Answers from the ‘Ask a question’ box are produced automatically from the text of this site. They can be incomplete or wrong, are not reviewed before you see them, and are not advice. The box never confirms whether a particular room complies. Questions you type are stored (without your name) so unanswered ones can be answered properly; do not type personal or confidential information into it.

Reminders and sign-ups

Test reminders and rule-change emails are a courtesy. They are prompts, not a compliance system, and we do not guarantee they will be sent or received. The practice remains responsible for its own testing intervals, records and compliance. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in it.

Listings and referrals

Electrician and builder listings are provided for information. We check licences and ask about patient-area experience before listing, but we do not supervise, guarantee or take responsibility for any listed business or its work, and a listing is not an endorsement. LND Group Pty Ltd, the publisher, is itself listed in Victoria. Where bpea.com.au arranges a test with a provider on your behalf, the provider may pay bpea a referral fee; you do not pay bpea. Any contract for work is between you and the provider.

If you ask to be listed, you confirm that the details you give are true, that you hold the licences you claim, that you have done the work you describe, and that you will tell us if that changes. We may decline, edit or remove a listing at any time, and will remove it on request.

Templates and checklists

The checklist and the classification record are templates to help you keep your own records. They are not certificates and completing them does not mean an area complies.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we exclude liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site, its question box, its emails, its templates or any listed business. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act that cannot be excluded.
