Common questions
How do I check a room on WorkSafe’s high-risk database?
In New Zealand, installation work for electrical medical devices is high-risk prescribed electrical work, and it is recorded on WorkSafe’s Electricity and Gas High-risk Database. Searching it is free, needs no account and works by address: type the practice’s address into the search on the database’s home page.
The registered electrical inspector enters the record from the Certificate of Compliance within 20 days of issuing the Record of Inspection, so a room built or altered more than a few weeks ago should show up. If yours does not, ask the electrician for the Certificate of Compliance and the inspector for the Record of Inspection, and keep both with the practice’s compliance records: RNZCGP accreditation asks to see the certificate and the inspection report for a new body-protected area.
